Coming back to what most
I had a horrible realization a few weeks ago. The last time that I went abroad and crossed an ocean in the process was when I went in December to Africa. That's so long ago (at least for me).
And this knowledge could have led to this nightmare I had last week, in which I tried to get the really cute Air Canada deal to Europe, but no matter what I did, I could never get a confirmation. At the end I missed the sale.
Some people have nightmares about snakes, death or storms. I have nightmares about cheap flights missing. I think I will always be a nomad, no matter how much I try to calm down.
was in the last few months, my life consumed by the publication of my book and subsequent two-month tour. This tour ended last week.
Right now, I'm happy to be in New York City home. I missed being able to cook my lovely bed and. Move through so many cities, so it burns quickly. For this reason, I travel slowly; it is much more relaxed.
But at the same time, the dream and memory, when I went the last time both trips made me realize that on the road I really miss. I miss traveling simply for the sake of traveling. I miss traveling without showing it, to take care of up to this meeting or that meeting
Now do not get me wrong -. I do not give up sedentary. Settling down was long in coming. I'm setting still to this new way of life, but I need balance between the two needs to be found in my life. I need to find a way to be on the road, and still enjoy a home with (and justify paying rent!).
So what do you do when you two things that pull in different directions? [1945003inNYCdieHälftedesMonatszuseinundwoandersdieandereHälfte]
you do to them both.
For the future my plan. Sometimes it will not be as well, but this way I can escape and still satisfy my wanderlust. Of course, two weeks is probably not enough for me. to spend as long as I want in a city that is a habit that is not likely to die, so I suspect there will be times when I'm away for more than two weeks of NYC. But trying to balance both my wishes, makes me feel that I do not quite I turn my back on either.
In fact, I went on a book binge last week and had a ton of rides, while I was in Seattle.
next month I will work for two weeks to a whirlwind start train trip through Europe take on 2 May in Lisbon and ends in Berlin on 16 May, I'm going with Rail Europe to see whether rail passes Own fail still cheaper than single tickets. In 09 and 2011, I have their passports and took it through the ringer to see if the passes will save you money. Two years later, and armed with a notebook and a calculator, I intend to find out if the math works. I will what take place overnight trains, high speed trains, slow trains, and everything in between.
Thereafter, it is from a weekend in Las Vegas!
Then the whole summer, I'm going in the Caribbean visit the islands to explore, to get a great tan, try to figure out how to sail between the islands (if someone has done this, let me know), and to prove that these islands cheap to visit! The Caribbean is a region of the world I have not seen much, and I'm thrilled to finally explore.
In September I'm going for two 10-person reader-tour through Europe's leading weeks.
After that, I'm two weeks in Ireland. I've never been to the Emerald Isle, so this is another highly anticipated trip.
Then, I do not know. I save South America for next year, if I take a four- to five-month journey through the continent, which coincides with the World Cup. Winter is me somewhere warm head, but where, I do not know. While you are busy planning, life happens, so I'll just see where the rest of the year takes me before I plan it away.
But as I sit and write this in New york from my home, I can tell you, I am eager to basics back and what is most important for me :. plenty of travel
In just a few weeks, I'm going to explore my backpack over his shoulder to be striking again, cross an ocean, stay up late at hostels, and parts unknown.
