Are we Wired Too during the trip? -

traveling while wired
in most hostels now go and see all travelers with smartphones, find surrounded netbooks, Macs, iPods and large SLR cameras. Go to the computer room and all found on Facebook. TV room, most people are on their laptop. People are buried in their computers or messaging their friends, while listening to music, without their environment.

When I started, but traveling years ago, I have people on technology addicted rare. Few people had mobile phones and even fewer had computers. No one had Facebook and Twitter did not exist.

Just recently I had a conversation with the famous writer Rolf Potts about how technology has changed so much in recent years. He has a lot more traveling than I, and as a lawyer who drives without much transition, Rolf was amazed at how much he had to keep up with new travelers to learn. "They are always online!" He said to me. After this conversation began, I, we will have to ask if perhaps to wired in our travels.

This may sound ironic coming from a tech-loving traveler who spends most of his days blogging the. And do not get me wrong - technology has made it easier to travel in many ways. Smartphones and GPS have made your way much easier to find - not giant cards. When I arrive in a new city, it is easy for me to find my hostel: I just turn on my iPhone and use it to find Google Maps. If I need to book reservations, I do it from my phone or on the Internet. Travel Apps make information accessible from your phone. Twitter brings you the latest news. Blogging allows you to get in contact with other travelers. Need to stay in touch with friends or family? Just call them. Or Facebook them; if they are as 99.9% of the population, check them probably quite often Facebook. If it were not for Facebook, I would have probably lost contact with many of the people I met on the street.

And as a budget traveler, I was the rise of the sharing economy allows money to save with locals easier, increase the leaked beaten path, and better to look at the local pace of life. There are so many sites and services, the more easily with other make travel accessible and connect.

Despite these conveniences of modern technology, I still think we spend online too much time. We spend more time on Facebook in our hostel to explore than the destination.

I also think that travelers who depend too much on technology a bit. Instead, to use technology as a tool and then on our own, to explore the world going out, we will rely on Google Maps, Flight Apps and more. (I'm guilty of this too.)

website running takes a lot of work, so I spend a lot of time of course, the Internet. I suppose spend online is usually time and a day or two at a hostel. There I see the Internet pattern of my fellow travelers. I've seen people away on Facebook simply wasting their days because they lost track of time. I have seen people play "pass the phone", so that they all have a chance, online, rather than simply could get only sightseeing. We are so addicted to technology in our regular lives, that if we we travel have to let go of a hard time.

Because I work online as much, I make it a point offline as often as possible to get. If I do not work, my computer is off. I limit the number of hours I work, so I spend more time on the road. I know firsthand how easy it will be sucked into the net.

Sometimes I wish I could the travelers shake around me and say, "Go from Facebook you are in Italy!" Technique is useful, but we need to learn to turn it off, especially if we are in one place, we can never get another chance to visit.
