The cost of travel Sweden
Sweden is not in the world to visit the cheapest country. The high prices keep many people from visiting, which is a shame, because this is one of the most beautiful and interesting countries in the world. That's a bold statement, but I have been twice to Sweden and am always on the beautiful scenery and cities amazed. In addition (see next make the rest of the world ugly) people are incredibly friendly for visitors. I have come to realize that while the country is expensive, there are many ways to save money and visit on a budget.
How much I have to spend?
I was in Sweden for 19 days and I spent a total of 11 357 SEK or $ 1,892.83 USD or (roughly) USD $ 100 per day (the ex-change rate is about 6 SEK 1 USD). The numbers break down in this way:
Accommodation: 2320 SEK
Food: 2289 SEK
alcohol: 3072 SEK
transport: 1898 SEK
interest 100 SEK
Telephone: 549 SEK
Other 1129 SEK
Total: 11,537 SEK
was My spending quite high for a simple reason: I have a lot left. My friends in Stockholm has me most nights, so a large part of my budget went on. If every beer you have 54 SEC ($ 9 USD), only two or three that really adds up. I should also note that most clubs entrance fees and about 500 SEK my "alcohol" budget went to the.
In addition, while I was eating cheap, I 3 days only cooked my own meals during my trip. Cooking would my costs further, but I could not be bothered, and friends took me always on site. Finally, I stayed with friends for most of my trip. If I had paid for accommodation every night, my accommodation costs a lot more could risen.
How much do you need?
While I spent USD $ 100 per day with it, I think you can make it cheaper. Just do not go out as much. On my cheapest day I spent $ 50 USD and that was just on lodging and meals. While there are ways to make money (see below) to save, is the fact that Sweden is expensive, and there is very little that you can do if you are not free or cooking stop 100% of your meals in places. If you want a bare-bones budget of only food, accommodation and transportation, you need around USD $ 60 per day (360 SEK). Add in some museums, and you will need about USD $ 70 per day (420 SEK). If you are the average "stay in a hostel / hotel, cheap food, go a few times" Travelers should budget around $ USD 0 per day (540 SEK). (Cut-ting nights of my budget would have reduced it from $ 20 USD per day !!)
are some typical costs for Sweden:
Hostel dorm: 220 SEK
restaurant meal: 150-0 SEK
Beer 55 SEK
Cocktail: SEK 100
Stockholm train 40 SEK one way, 180 SEK for eight runs, 260 SEK for an unlimited pass week
Pizza 60 SEK
McDonalds 60 SEK
water 18 SEK
Cheap hotdogs and sausages: 15-25 SEK
ferry to Gotland 230 SEK per track
train to Göteborg 350 SEK
Museums: 60-100 SEK
budget tips for Sweden
There are ways some work Sweden cheap, but to make them take. Since food and accommodation are very expensive, CouchSurfing or cook your meals are the most obvious ways to reduce your costs. These are general tips that will save you a lot of money. But if staying with strangers or cooking is not your thing, here are some other ways to save money .:
drink beer Alcohol is not cheap in Sweden, as they heavily taxed becomes. However, beer is pretty cheap. If you remain beer, you can save a lot of money when you go to the bars.
Book in advance. My Trip to Stockholm station has taught me that travel throughout Sweden is Expen-sive, especially if you are booking only one or two days before hand. Prices can vary widely, even with the difference of a day. Booking trains or buses three to four weeks in advance, you can get around 40-50% discount.
Buy a rail pass. If you travel a lot to do, buy a pass track, before you get into the country. You will save a few hundred dollars from the high cost of travel at the end. This can be a good alternative to booking in advance if you are like me and plan everything at the last minute.
Buy a card Stockholm. This pass gives public transport in the city of access and free entrance to 99% of the museums and canal trips. It is well worth the money and will definitely save you a lot more than it costs when you lots to see while planning in Stockholm.
Skiprestaurants. in Sweden Food is very expensive, especially if at sit-down restaurants. If you want to, without having to eat a lot of money, do you think you see on the street at the outer food vendors. You can find a good selection (I a Thai once found), and they are only about 50 SEK per meal. You can also buy cheap hot dogs and sausages for about 25 SEK.
Avoid obtained clubs. Most clubs have a cover 0 SEK. Do not waste your money.
Get a subway map. If you do not plan to get the Stockholm card, make sure that you get one week subway pass. At 220 SEK for a week's worth of trains, it is a better deal than the 40 SEK does it cost for a single trip.
Refill your water. water is about 20 SEC ($ 3.50 USD) per bottle. Buy one, use it again to save the bottle and money. Plus you will help to preserve the environment!
avoidTaxis. With the subway open all night long, not take taxis. A typical trip is worth 0 SEK or more, not price. Unless you are far from the station and it's snowing out, the price is hard to justify
The editorial Note. Visit Stockholm gave me a free city pass for all museums and three nights free accommodation.
