Your vacation time maximizing
time. It just never seems to be enough of it. I mean, it's already October. celebrate, we have not only the start of 2012? I feel like I chime weeks in Thailand just before the year! Time passes too quickly (and every year seems to move it faster even).
And the time is always something that people tell me, one of the reasons why they do not travel as much as they want (money is also a problem).
Well, I'm not saying that people can travel with 9-to-5 jobs like me or even want. My journey lifestyle suits my needs. It is not for everyone. I am lucky to have found a way to make a living while being my own boss and turned to something that I love to have in a career.
However, just because extended trip is out of your reach or your company gives you only one week off per year does not mean you can not travel. I know it seems like you just do not have the time, but you do .
There are many ways to travel, if you "starving time."
Let's say you work 50 weeks a year and get a two week holiday. (Non-American, then you will probably get a lot more and you should be lucky!) Count your holiday time and every weekend brings the total number of days per year that you can travel at 114 (104 Weekend days and 10 working days in your two week holiday). That's a lot of time to travel. Throw in three-day weekends and holidays, and we can do even more days add to our total. While not all are continuous, which is still playing a lot of days. Some clever ninja skills, they can be used to put on the road quite often
is to think about Leave for a second. 114+ days free time per year. That's near four months of potential driving time per year! Four months! You could break areas in sections, sit on the beach, or as much of your region see that you literally could write a guide on it!
If you say you do not have the time to travel, perhaps it is because you have a priority, not to make it. It's like when I say I do not have the time to go to the gym. I have a lot of time to go the gym; I only spend elsewhere. If it looking this way, our calendar will be opened more.
to switch the script flip and the frame.
I find that most people associate "travel" with a long-term, large, expensive journey and that all current methods of travel discount. When people think "I want to travel," imagine it. A two-week vacation, a cruise or a long, several months travel
I used the same way of thinking. It's just how the travel industry tells us that we must travel. The marketing machine in the industry tells us that the journey often means a journey where we spend a lot of money. And if you hear something enough, you believe it. We internalize this idea and never consider other options.
It's why Jessica never goes to Ireland and Bob is always a hater. They do not think you can saturate the wanderlust about all the little ways when the time is not on your side. But there are many. Here are some ways to travel when "time is not on your side":
to location - Spend a weekend somewhere you have never been. Two days is not much time, but it's still enough to explore a city, town, or camp in a national park near you. From my home in NYC, I have a lot of weekend options - Atlantic City, Fire Iceland, the Hamptons, the Berkshires, Boston, Philadelphia and Washington DC! I bet that you have too many options! Try to incorporate more weekend breaks. A few days is somewhere still better than anywhere without days
anywhere near Go -. have just one week? Do not travel to waste halfway around the world, tons of time getting to your destination. Go somewhere far away. Live in Miami so Fiji too far? Head to Central America! Are you in Sydney so America too far? Go halfway and stop in Hawaii, or visit New Zealand or Pacific island nation! You live in Europe? Well, hell, 0% of the continent is a three-hour flight away! Stay close and you will need less time to do what you want. Moreover, the best flight deals can often be found for targets near you
a local tourist -. I do not think people are tourists in their own city often enough. How often do you visit the museums, explore new areas in your city or to see the main attractions of the city? I know that New Yorkers who have never been at the Met, Boston, the Freedom Trail are never gone, and Amsterdam that never wandered through the red light district. Take the weekend, move out of the house and stay in a cheap place, and be a tourist. I love being a tourist to play in my own city, because it helps you to learn and understand where you come from
. Important: If you do this, leave your home and stay somewhere else. Otherwise it will be too tempting to arouse some errands to run, and this really works, you need to break your routine "the time is up." - And do not stay in your home, is an important way to do that.
your own city, you feel to be cumbersome explore? Take one or two cities. Stroll a place where you will not bump into people you know! Use the exchange of business to fit directly into the local culture
Maximize your time -. Do not try to see everything under the sun. You will never be able to see them all. They are running around too much. I have many emails from people who field who want to see half of Europe in two weeks or to conquer all of South America in a month. If you think that's how you have to travel and try to cram everything in, it's just by being burdened your itinerary. They look at all of these locations, overwhelmed, realize that there is not enough time to give up and wait until you "time." I get that you do not have much vacation time and want to see as much as possible, but not! Sticking to only one or two places suddenly opens a lot of time and opportunity up! Even with my open schedule, I can not see everything I want. I heard tried long ago. In travel, less is more.
You can not months to travel, but that does not mean that you can not travel. There are a variety of ways to get the world and see, without I be a nomad must. Even you say do not have time, is just an excuse. They do have the time; the problem is that you probably do not think about how to spend the time beyond the typical "two-week vacation."
So the next time you think, "I did not have the time to" think instead all places near you could explore. Yes, you need to run errands and things that require your attention. But by using your time productively, prioritization travel, and think outside the box, they will find you, do have time to explore the world. Travel is on exploration, and exploration that can be done for a long time everywhere.
