The Saturday City: Prague

The Saturday City: Prague -

Prague town at sunset Prague, the center of the Czech state for more than 1,100 years. It has a population of over one million, and is widely regarded as one of the most beautiful cities in Europe. Since 1992, the historic center of Prague has been on the UNESCO list of World Heritage Sites.

My trip there in 06, the first stop on my tour was continental Europe included, and I do not imagine a more beautiful city to start in. I loved Prague so much that I extended my stay there. I could get it just is not enough. It's beautiful, it's historic, and it is cheap.

Prague was in the late 9th century, was established in the center of Bohemian kings, some of whom ruled the Holy Roman Empire. The city flourished under the reign of Charles IV, who ordered the construction of some of the areas that attract most tourists today. Over the centuries, it became an important center for European Jews, artists and performers. After the First World War, the city was the capital of Czechoslovakia and in 1993, when Czechoslovakia was divided into two countries Prague the capital of the Czech Republic.

Prague town square in Czech republic
Prager compact medieval center remains a wonderful mixture of cobbled streets, courtyards, cathedrals and countless church spiers in the shade of a majestic castle 9th century. The Jewish Quarter, one of the oldest parts of the city, is an amazing area that opens up a window in the city of Jewish history. Prague had one of the largest Jewish communities in the world before the Nazis came to power. Temples and cemeteries here are from the 12th century.

includes The Old Town Square many historic churches, the astronomical clock, and a city center filled with cafés, souvenir shops, and the occasional football (soccer) game. Cross the historical bridge, where you will find artists sell amazing art. I found paintings and works of art on the famous Charles Bridge, that if I had not been traveling, I would have drawn in a second.

st. vitus cathedral in the czech republic

Once you cross the river, you can at the Prague Castle on foot. I thought the name was a little misleading because it was more a fortress and the Church as a classic castle. Nevertheless, it offers excellent views of the city and is filled with amazing architecture. Then head and see St. Vitus Cathedral, an astonishing baroque church.

Prague has become one of the most popular destinations in Central Europe, and millions of tourists visit the city every year. Although it is not as cheap as they are used, the city is still amazingly cheap by western standards. Beers costs a dollar, hostels cost 10 dollars per night, and only a few dollars food. Like everywhere, you can delete your bank account if you want to, but I could not want anything, and spend only 20 to 25 dollars a day.

the beautiful architecture of prague

so many with cheap flights in Europe, sees this city a lot of weekend warriors who come on Friday and leave on Monday. British men are mainly for stag and wild weekends where they get a lot of beer for their pounds. The city has a certain party atmosphere, but it is easy to avoid and enjoy the historical and artistic past city.

Prague is a do not miss stop for any tour of Europe. It's so nice that stupid your senses overloads. Wherever you go, you will feel like going in the 15th century. Prague is a city where my camera went into extra time.
