As families and seniors can local advice on this website use -

family travel I am 32, single, and usually travel alone. These are things that probably will not change anytime soon (although my mother keeps asking me when the second is). As such, in general, most of the travel advice on this site to focus on what I, a single traveler will learn better travel, cheaper and longer.

But this does not, my advice is only for single travelers.

My belief is that the budget travel tips are universal, because if we all touch down in London town, we all deal with the same cost. We may end up in different restaurants to stay in different places and food, but the methods we use for saving money will be universal in the rule.

A common question I'm asked if my advice for families or older travelers work. (It is also brought into my reader surveys ". Matt, I wish you more for those who write with families or older travelers would")

There is a common perception that families and seniors travel is an inherently different shape travel that requires special considerations. I know not everyone thinks so, but I often feel that the question "Can you write tips that promote family / senior trip?" Implies that distinction.

But I do not think that really is the case.

sure if you are traveling with a family you want to kid-friendly activities, hotels and restaurants, or maybe just you will not stay in a hostel dorm, but is that really a whole new way of traveling? I do not think so. They are looking for different things in the household travel Reich

Not every tip applies to any traveler -. We all have different needs and desires, and because the question is very valid for one, I wanted to show you how to go to apply nomads on your family trip the advice of this Solo (or, if you are older, highlight some different types of accommodation and tour information)

(Disclaimer :. I'm not create a go-to resource on this topic or to know about pretending as best older with children or the needs of travelers to travel, I do not.. But there is this question that a lot comes, I want to create only gather tips and articles on my website, a resource page which I believe may help in the planning.)

family travelers

the wide wide world family
flights
It is one thing to buy a flight for one person; there is another flight to shop for four or five people. The $ 700 flight is suddenly $ 3,500 and that's just more money than most of us, or want to spend. See this number only for flights'd stay home! Here tips to reduce flight costs for your family:

  • Using travel credit cards to get points - Playing the travel hacking game is even more important, if you buy several airline tickets , With very little work you can earn hundreds of thousands of points - enough to keep you and your family all over the world want to receive. For example, the new British Airways Avios offers card 50,000 points on sign-up (up to 100,000 if you meet their expenditure requirements), and that's enough to get you and your family anywhere in the continental United States.
  • flies to less frequented destinations - long-haul international flights are quite expensive, but flights to places only a few hours you will not be. Fly to a less visited destination closer to you and get cheaper flights. Here are some good flying sites: flight, Momondo, Skyscanner Airfarewatchdog, holiday Pirates
  • Visit a travel agent - nor his Believe it or not, travel agents can be good for. Mass flight discounts, especially ethnic travel agencies that specialize in flights to their specific country (eg flights to China to buy in Chinatown).

In addition, to find points or some amazing deal, there is not much you can reduce the cost of flights (whether for a single traveler or a family). Ticket prices are rising and we all would suffer. There are possibilities that person to avoid that the most paid for their tickets, but no points, there is no possibility of free or very discounted flights to get

property
This is another major cost that does not need to break your bank. The greatest way to win: Skip the hotel. Hotels are the most expensive form of accommodation. there are some good alternatives Fortunately. Here's how you (or cut) in order to overcome these costs:

  • offers a family-friendly hostel - Hostels are not just for young, single backpackers. There are many hostels there that are ideal for families (and groups) that are not normally associated with the party atmosphere with hostels. One of the best family-friendly hostels in the world is the chain Youth Hostel Association. They offer nice, quiet, clean rooms, and have hostels all over the world
  • rent someone's house or apartment -. Holiday sides can get the comforts of home while on the road and it is cheaper per person than a hostel or hotel. In many cases, you can create an entire apartment for similar prices to budget hotels to rent. Good rental sites include: Airbnb, VRBO FeWo-direkt.de rent and Wimdu
  • Use last minute hotel discount websites - Use to find sites like Hotwire and Priceline cheap, load minute hotel rooms ..
  • a hospitality network Use - Many of hospitality networks like CouchSurfing, hospitality Club and numerous Servas hosts who take the family. Often there is this perception that these are wesbites only for young, single travelers, but many, many hosts take families (Hospitality Club and CouchSurfing Servas over). You get a local family with these sites to know and your children will have other children to play, too! Win-win

Food
I imagine feeding a family very cheap (I know, I know - Captain Obvious here, is not it?). If you are traveling, important budget is yet to be aware of ruin as food costs your budget. Here are some tips that may help:

  • Cook - Obviously cooking food will be cheaper than food. Visit. Local markets or grocery stores, some food, and a picnic or sandwiches for later If I, I buy no access to a kitchen a lot of ready meals in supermarkets. They are not the world-class meals, but they did the trick
  • lunch specials Get -. The best time to eat in restaurants during lunch, when places offer lunch menus and rushes, are cheaper than dinner menus. This is especially true in Europe and in Singapore
  • Food trucks / street food -. If you are in a place where food trucks or street food to eat there. Not only will these meals be cheaper, they will probably be very tasty also. Food trucks and street stalls are to eat my favorite places
  • Eat not near tourist attractions -. This is an important rule of mine. If you eat a great location in the area, food is three times as expensive, and probably a third as well. Walk at least four blocks away before you pick a restaurant. They are cheaper, authentic local food obtained in this way

interest - Use city tourism map Discounts and free admission to museums and attractions. Tourist offices (think London Tourism, Paris Tourism, New York tourism, etc.), these cards give you free entrance and significant discounts on attractions and tours of the city, free public transport attend (a big plus), and rebates at a couple of restaurants and shopping centers. You take a different number of days and are one of the best ways to see many attractions on the cheap. (Remember, children under 12 years receive free in most museums.)

Moreover, students and youth discount cards are free for people over 13. These cards or discounted access to museums and monuments on the world will be. You can get these cards at STA Travel.

Older travelers

don and alison, a happy senior couple traveling the world
For older travelers looking to travel in a bit more comfort the world, but not looking to spend a lot of money, many of the above tips are to work. But the most common concern I hear is that I write about hostels too much, and most older travelers want an alternative. Some of one my favorite non-hostel options are:

  • Airbnb rentals
  • B & Bs
  • YHA hostels
  • Budget Hotels
  • [1945013Ferienwohnungen]
  • farm stays

another question, which is much is to see how they avoid expensive load groups for individual travelers individual supplements. To these charges, use small group tour operators like Intrepid Travel avoided. It is really only the big bus companies that already have this charge have (think Globus or Trafalgar Tours). Most small businesses have ceased the practice of individual supplements. In general, anyone running groups that are less than 15 passengers or provides a hop-on / hop-off style service is not a single supplement required.

PS Intrepid is my favorite multi-day tour. And as a reader of this website, you will get 10% discount on all tours over $ 500th Click here to see the exclusive coupon code.

Nothing is ever universally, but tips for solo travelers, couples, families and older travelers are not mutually exclusive. You can be borrowed from each other and used as you see fit. I write as a single traveler who wants to save money, and while not all of my tips for every kind of traveler are applicable , the may be. So I hope this post some of the questions you addressed was what to do on this site are relevant for family and senior travel.
