Busting the Budget in Bordeaux
I knew that Bordeaux would be expensive. I was here last year to visit friends and got Bordeaux high prices firsthand experience. Coming back, I knew I would have to budget much. Bordeaux is an upscale city a city for shopping, eating and drinking. It sits in the center of the world-famous wine region, which bears his name, and thus tourists come here to eat, drink, experience wine, and be merry. Just like Napa Valley in California or Hunter Valley in Australia, prices reflect here that spending reality.
seen as budget travelers, I always try places on the cheap. I am proving of travel, is not expensive, and the more I save, the longer can I travel. And while you are eating sandwiches and buy cheap wine in the supermarkets here you will miss out on what makes Bordeaux so great. Bordeaux is not simply a budget hotel, and I spent more here in three days than I did in a week in Spain.
you need to bring these additional euro because here in Bordeaux, the food and wine is second to none. The area has been producing wine for centuries and has perfected this art. While I was disappointed that Bordeaux itself does not have much of interest in the way to see the architecture is beautiful and it is nice to just meander through the city only small alleys and cobbled streets.
What really came here because I was the wine. While there are many wine tour operators in the area, I found that the city tourist office offers many great ways. You can do on wine half day trips, day trips, multi-day tours or take classes. They do everything. The full-day tours range from € 55 to 0 and include lunch. But they were always full. Personally, I think the half-day tours are a better option. For 30 €, you can visit the afternoon spend two wineries. The tours run every day to another wine area in the region. I have two of these tours and the opportunity to learn enjoyed, such as the subtle variations in location and soil very different wines. a few half-day tours taking gives you the bigger picture rather than a day in a small area around Bordeaux spend.
In Bordeaux, wine is very regulated. Wineries can only produce a certain amount of wine each year and only by the nature of their region is best suited to produce. If you want to produce more or a different variety try, you're out of luck. In addition, all the wine in Bordeaux are mixed between Cabernet and Merlot grapes. Reds are usually produced closer to the sea, while the whites are produced in the south of the city tend and in between the two rivers that flow near Bordeaux. I learned a huge amount about the wine and the history of the region.
In addition to wine, what really makes Bordeaux amazing is the food. Following the advice of winetravel of Twitter, I decided to eat me at La Tupina. There is a traditional French restaurant with a southwest style French cuisine. The menu is quite small. They produce only a handful of traditional dishes, but the food is very, very good. You pay for them too as most of the dishes from € 18 to 40. The wine list ranges also contains an extensive list of local wines. I managed to get out of there without a lot of money, but the money I spent was worth it.
However, my favorite meal was at Le Petit Commerce. Located near the river, took my friend there last year for some great seafood, and I had to go back at this time. It took a while to find it again, but I did, and the seafood I had was amazing. My friend and I were there for about five hours for food and drink. The squid, shrimp, snails (yes, I tried the sea snails), the bread. All this was amazing. If you are ever in Bordeaux, I recommend this place. It is apparently quite famous for.
But no matter where you go in Bordeaux, you are good food and wine. The town is famous for it, and regardless of the night, any body fills with new people in order to find a new gastronomic delight. I have been many places I wish I had time to try. Come to Bordeaux is a great opportunity to eat and drink, and you will not go away disappointed. But they are removed with a much lighter wallet walk.
