My time in Taiwan
When I took my first trip overseas alone, I lost myself in the jungle, was attacked by a bat while caving, rabies had to get shots, and came back with an intestinal disease that asked me for three days in the hospital. My mother said to me: "I bet you'll never want to travel." I told her I could not wait to get back on the road. Despite what happened, I loved Costa Rica and fell in love with travel.
This experience also describes my time in Taiwan. Many bad things happened. I was a girl, I really liked unloaded. It always rains. The visa situation here is very complex and time consuming. The kids in my school are wild and do not hear. The food is less than stellar, and I got a girl I really liked unloaded. (Did I mention that already? Oh yes, I did. Well, I just wanted to emphasize how much it sucks! It's probably karma for my last blast ... but somehow ...)
I have decided to leave Taiwan if my current visa expires. Getting a residence visa has proved to be very complex and expensive. It is not worth the time or money for a job I'm would not stay long with anyway. And given the other recent events, it's time to go. I really have nothing left to keep me here.
But it was not all bad. I met some really good people who I will keep in touch. I got a place to live I had never been, and I found that there are enough people to offer places in the world crazy all-you-can-drink alcohol. I have a lot of fun had here-more than I thought I would. Taipei has pleasantly surprised me, and I would recommend it to anyone visiting.
does leave early, I did not get to explore the island, as I had hoped, and I do seriously catch up with my sightseeing, so I can get them all in before I go. I'm going to get my friend in Bali at the end of the month, before heading back to Thailand. I have to do some serious Web and SEO work, so I can afford to travel Europe this summer.
Finally, I will spit out some interesting posts to see about things in Taipei, but now, my life goes on.
