The truth is that both cities Nightlife have! - So would either fun on a Saturday night - but ultimately there is no comparison: Tokyo is the hands-down winner
While both Tokyo and Kyoto are large cities, Tokyo is much, much larger
[And when it comes to going out on Saturday night, Tokyo is one of the best cities in the world, let alone Japan!

Tokyo truly a city that never sleeps
There are dozens of neighborhoods in Tokyo are having good restaurants, izakayas (Japanese-style gastropubs) and bars -. not to mention musical events large and small, as well as world-class clubs with DJs from around the world.
Kyoto, on the other hand, usually goes to bed a little earlier.
There are some pockets visit nightlife, but if you are looking for an exciting nightlife in the Kansai region of Japan, you would be best to spend from a Saturday night near Osaka, located about 35 miles south of Kyoto.
This is not to say that Kyoto is not much fun on a Saturday night - but the nightlife faded definitely compared to larger cities like Tokyo and Osaka
