My tour of the Galapagos Islands

My tour of the Galapagos Islands -

cactus in the Galapagos Islands You always hear that the Galapagos Islands are a unique opportunity many animals (both on land and in the sea), to see how and unspoiled beautiful islands. After the visit, I can tell you that these islands definitely special. They are incredibly beautiful, totally unique, and filled with such a variety of life. I can see why it fascinates so much Darwin. I have photos published during the week, but also to see photos before I went could not prepare me how wonderful they were in real life.

I arrived at the starting point at Santa Cruz, where my journey started out by trying the famous giant tortoise Lonesome George, from his hiding place, so that I and the other tourist paparazzi could photograph to coax him. But he was nowhere to be found. He had flashing lights in his face had enough of Gringos. Discouraged, we found eating some of his cousins and took pictures of them instead. Way back to the boat, we had issued our tour introduction, welcome drinks and dinner at anchor hoisting and into the sunset.

Route wise our days were pretty much the same. In the morning, would we anchor and set out on a hike before it got too hot. We would search for birds, reptiles and different species of plants. I was surprised by the variety of the country. In the lowlands, you can find an almost Garrigue like landscape to the islands even in the higher Hills- tall trees and jungle. I often went from the desert to the jungle on the same island.

afternoon we would go snorkeling. That was my favorite part of the tour. Surely the islands were great, but what's under the surface where the Galapagos really shined. There is much more life under water than above. What I saw was only with what I saw, vying, as I the Great Barrier Reef dove. I'm beat still for not an underwater camera.

Sunset in the Galapagos Islands

My whole trip was wonderful and I could not bore you with the minute by minute breakdown but I want to. The pictures tell the story far better than words. Instead, I will tell you my personal highlights:

  • swimming with sea turtles. (An almost swam in me.)
  • swimming with sea lions. (A chased me for a bit. I was a little worried that it was the dominant male, but I think he was just curious.)
  • See sharks. (We saw about 7 sharks swimming together.)
  • See eagle rays and manta rays
  • The search for a camouflaged Octopus. (Also the guide was impressed that I saw it. It was moving before getting someone a picture.)
  • See more colored starfish.
  • spotting sea turtles throughout the journey.
  • Watching sea lions fish one night when our boat was anchored hunt. We had dinner outdoors, since no one wanted to leave this amazing scene. (The lights attracted fish that attracted the sea lions as well as some turtles and rays.)
  • On our last night, dolphins swam with the boat and seemed to glow in the dark, because the phosphorus (a luminous algae) over them to break. They even have a few flips. Perfect end.
  • And of course to see, blue-footed boobies.

The Tour
Gap Adventures with whom I had ever traveled the first company, and it was that first tour, gave me the travel bug. I have a special affinity for them and have never had a bad tour with them. This tour was no exception. In terms of what could control Gap, I was kept well the boat. The interior was clean, comfortable and the rooms were spacious. My bed was made every day. The bathroom was cleaned. The food was very good and the last night we even got wine for dinner. They also had snack time twice a day (mini pizza!) And it made me feel like a child in view of Time. Our guide spoke fluent English and was very knowledgeable.

However, I have the history with Gap and even if it's something I did not like, I would take it again. What I know on these trips, is what other people think. Finally, they would take a Gap tour again? Most of the other, the company had from friends (always a good sign) and, as I suggested, the rep had enjoyed the food and the accommodation. No one had to say something really negative. So when I ask, "Would you again take a Gap tour?" And everyone says yes, then I know Gap still do it right.

On a trip like the Galapagos Islands there is not much to write. How many synonyms I can put "beautiful" and "breathtaking" for. That's why I started this series with photos. The beauty of the islands speak for themselves. And so I say, go back to finish at the pictures and see for yourself why everyone loves this place

Disclaimer . My trip to the Galapagos Islands was free as part of my Wanderers in Residence partnership with Gap Adventures.
