Prague: Back to Where It Began

Prague: Back to Where It Began -

My life as backpackers began in Prague. I came two months after the beginning of my journey. But these two months were spent to stay with friends and to drive in the United States. It was not spent in hostels or conference guest. Until that time, my journey had always felt like an extended vacation.

But everything changed in Prague.

Prague was the first place I stayed in a hostel and friends had with strangers in dorms, go on my own (there was no one to meet me at the airport), out characters in another language , and really get along as a traveler. It was the first place where I a stranger in another country was really

I was alone, and I loved it -. From the hostel happy hour with the huge four-deck game of kings, to the madness of that nice Aussie girl (call me) in a 20-bed dormitory, be to the friends that I met that I this day Stay in Touch.

Prague showed me the wonders of hostel life and backpacking, and I was excited.

Then, three days later, I was gone ... continue my adventure from Milan.

I have not been back since, but with my Central Europe tour starting in Prague, I again last week I flew to the city to re-acclimate to get the lay of the land, and in conjunction with the local operators I work ,

away after eight years, I was worried the city would have changed too much, and the memory of my first visit would be powerful, so that Prague could never live up to it. [1945003nochda]

but I was wrong, fortunately.

Prague is different (and more expensive), but the essence of what it is makes wonderful. When I came to Prague in 06, I fell with a city in love in history, beautiful medieval architecture, cobbled streets, cafes, beautiful women, many travelers and cheap beer. Prague seemed to have everything.

And it does still.

time change places, especially those so popular with travelers. And sometimes it is not always for the better. There are many things differently with Prague-some good, some bad. There are more tourists, the prices are much higher (EUR widely accepted), English is more widely used, and there are more international cuisine, including many vegetarian dishes (be sure to check out the Home Country Buffet!).

What Prague Special made as a city was still there, and that made me happy. It was Letenské sady (Park), where over the city, I stared from a vantage point like Couple Photos provided and an art student pulled the skyline. It was the slow meander through zahrada Královská where the noise of the city was removed when the towers of St. Vitus Cathedral rose above the trees, and in all that could hear the whisper of travelers over the park of beauty conversation were.

When I walked cobblestone streets, walked across the Charles Bridge, traipsed up and down the river, and plotted routes for my walking tour, I fell again to Prague. I remembered what the city so special for me made the first time: the feeling of being lost in time and in one place really different. This time the feeling was still there.

I wrote before traveling spirits about hunting. It is a thought that haunts me during my travels. Will be a target, as good as I remember? If each subsequent visit tires to renew me or my love? Sometimes, as in Paris, renewed return my love. Other times, as in Ko Phangan, it makes me realize that it's time to move.

But returning to Prague, my love was rekindled, and that is something special. Each visit anywhere is unique in its own right, and it is only natural to compare them. But if the essence remains the same, if the original spark is still there, you know your connection is deeper to a place than just a good time.

And that's a great feeling. I can not wait to come back in August and share this wonderful city with my tour group.

PS I will write a much longer post on what to see and do in the future in Prague!
