The Travel Slump (and how to deal with)

The Travel Slump (and how to deal with) -

An uphappy traveler facing the travel slump The slump . It happens to us all. After months on the road, you wake up one day and feel a little off. Tourism does not seem as exciting as it should be. They are bored, tired and disinterested.

you start to think: "What's wrong with me I see and every day to do amazing things Why do I not love it?."

This is the collapse -. And it happens to us all

If you listed for the first time, traveling is exciting and new. You meet different people from around the world, experience new activities, different foods to try and explore exotic lands. But one day you realize your travel routine have become: you wake up, visit, meet other travelers, questions and get asked the same questions, pack your bag, walk to the next destination, and do it all over again in a new place ,

recently wrote to me about this problem a friend. He and his partner five months after the start of their journey and suddenly do not have as much fun as ever. They just are not "feeling it" he said as much to me. He wanted to know what was going on and if this normal.

"Nothing wrong," I said. "It is completely normal."

Many long-term travelers face the intrusion on their journey. For example, travel to four and a half months to the United States, my last weeks were not spent sightseeing new cities, but watching Netflix and eating with friends. every few days so long after you move, I needed a break. Luckily, I was able to relax on the way home, but if I were not, I would have done what I told my friend, he should do:

Stop and mix it up

The slump is. easily curable, because it is born of routine disease. They went on trips excitement to your life add yet suddenly you feel like saying, "Another damned church / temple / waterfall? Anyway." How many beautiful churches, mountains or beaches you can see in a short time, before a little dull?

If travel becomes routine, it loses its edge, but there are two easy ways to fix that.

First, stop where you are spend time at one place. Part of why you as you do, feel, because you run around as much. Changing locations every few days is tiring. They are constantly on the packing and unpacking as well as much as possible try again to see. Life is a blur, a series of photos. So slow down. Take a break from traveling. Stay where you are, get the place to get to know more deeply, regularly. Look Netflix, read and sleep. One day you will find, you get your mojo back. When this happens, move on again.

Second, mix up your routine. My friends digital nomads spend on the road a lot of work and a lot of time in Airbnbs. I told them they should be held in hostels or couchsurfing, a pub crawl to join or use a site like EatWith to meet locals.

What travel so exciting does the variety is. Every day is filled with endless possibilities a new day. You can do or be whatever you want. But just like everything else in life, if it is a routine, dwindling enthusiasm.

So break out of your routine. If you live in hostels, CouchSurfing instead. Use to find Meetup.com local groups with similar interests. Skip all the activities that you would normally do, and the training attend to hear instead Festival.

The slump happens to the best of us. It's happened to me, my friends and many other people.

Do not worry about it.

By slowing down and your routine to change, the collapse will disappear.

and you will be the excitement and energy that you had before. [1945005zurück]
