Bangkok the city of lights
I now have more than a week back home. come back to my friends, good drinks, Cheap Charlie, great food, great weather and chaotic electrical activity after two months in Europe, I have. Yes, I have come back to Bangkok. Although born in Boston and grew up, I think now home Bangkok. When people ask me where I live, I usually say Bangkok, even if I am homeless really consider, because all over the world waiting for me no apartment there. So is the life of a nomad!

They say home is where the heart is and while Boston is always "at home", it is more the place where I was born and raised. As we grow older and mature, we are changing, and sometimes the place, we did not grow up not change with us. I have already written about the joys and drawbacks come back to where you were born, so I do not delve here into the.

But for me one of the best parts about exploring the world sees all the new places that you realize you could call home. I have come in many places where I thought: ". Yes, I could live here" (Stockholm. The youngest is) I love this because it makes me realize that home is not a place in the world. It is not a set position. It does not have the place you grew up in. It is the place where the energy and the atmosphere of your own matches.

Thailand is for me that. Lives in Bangkok, has taught me a lot. I love so many things here: the street food, the chaos of the streets, the traffic, the outdoor activity companies, the fact that every night of the week some new social event is that there is a place where everyone knows your name , (The Expat Bar Cheap Charlie. Everyone goes there!)

Many times people back home a bit annoyed when I say "Bangkok is at home", as if it somehow cheapens Boston or my friends. Boston is still one of my favorite cities in the world, and I always encourage people to go visit. There is nothing better than Boston in the fall, food on Newbury Street, or on the hanging Charles River in summer. But we come back home reminds me how much I've changed and how much Boston has not.

Stockholm, Paris, Amsterdam, these are the cities that I find myself in now. Below are the next new possibilities for me. You are might be in the house. But now, when I think of home, I think of Bangkok. For the whole week led to my escape, I could think was over the city, the country, the tropical islands.

And now I'm back to a short time. On December 3, I go to New Zealand. Two and a half weeks away. In Thailand, the time just flies by. There are a lot before doing then, and while I will not be sad to leave the city to explore the world, I'm looking forward again to come.
