How to spend three days San Francisco Touring

How to spend three days San Francisco Touring -

Golden Gate Bridge on a sunny day in San Francisco, California is San Francisco one of the most versatile cities in the United States. It is home to liberals, hippies, hippies, techies, immigrants, yuppies, one of the oldest gay scenes in the States, the big red bridge, Alcatraz, delicious Chinese food, seafood and, well, the food in general (this is a great is the city to be hungry in). For me it is a magical place. While it lacks that certain je ne sais quoi that would convince me to pack my bags and live there, I look forward with excitement to each visit (and hunger). There is always something new and exciting happens.

The first time I was in town, I found myself at races and hardly get anything. I only had three full days to see everything, and that just wasn 't enough. San Francisco attractions are distributed and are not always easily accessible - there is a lot involved to travel. But last month, I went back and looked more pages, ate much more food, and found out the best way to get an overview of the highlights of the city on a short visit. Here's what I came up with:

Day 1

Walk the Golden Gate Bridge
The full The Golden Gate Bridge on a sunny day in San Francisco, Cali
The Golden Gate Bridge is one of San Francisco's most famous sites as well as a piece of engineering. You can walk across the bridge, if you want to (recommended), falling to the visitor center to be informed in the history of the park, or just stare at them from every angle and take a stupid amount of pictures like I did. Do not forget to make your way to the Golden Gate National Recreation Area, a promenade overlooking the bridge, and a number of hiking trails. There is a Walt Disney Museum in the park also.

Visit Crissy Field
View of the ocean from Crissy Field, a great spot to go fishing in California
Also in the vicinity of the bridge, as it is removed along the harbor towards the city center of this park, a beautiful beach, restaurants, piers for fishing, and parks for Frisbee has. You will find a lot of locals run, walk their dogs or lying on the beach. It offers a magnificent view of the entire harbor.

The Palace of Fine Arts visit
Gorgeous photo of dome surrounded by the water, shrubbery and birds at the Palace of Fine Arts taken during the golden hour
The Palace of Fine Arts is a Roman-style remainder of the 1915 Panama-Pacific International Exposition. The outdoor rotunda and its lagoon are one of the most photographed landmarks. Take a walk around the lagoon, relax under the rotunda, or enjoy a picnic on the lawn.

tour Alcatraz
View of the whole island of Alcatraz, home to the worst criminals in the US
The former federal prison on Alcatraz Iceland was home to some of the worst criminals in the United States. It was decommissioned in the 1970s and has since become a national landmark people will explore. There is no charge to visit the island, but you will pay for the boat there. I would suggest a tour during your visit so take the Ranger you can provide with some historical context. Be sure to book a ferry to the island early if you go in the summer because it gets very busy!

Visit Fisherman's Wharf, Pier 39 and Ghirardelli Square
Fisherman's Warf of San Francisco at a crowded street in Ghirardelli Square, San Fran
This area includes several blocks along the waterfront and is one of the most popular (touristy) things to do in the city. There are street performers, souvenir shops, and tons of spendy restaurants. This is a good place to wander and explore to watch for people, but do not eat here. The food is too expensive and, to be honest, not so good. If you want to try some of the delicious seafood that San Francisco is famous for, I really liked Waterbar and the Anchor Oyster Bar.

Hang in the Mission
Groups of people hanging out on the lawn in the Mission District on a nice day in sunny San Francisco
The mission District is a fabulous place to spend your night. After a tiring day, go for a great view of the city in Dolores Park, relax and then the amazing Mexican food Mission check-out (and the general food scene), bars and clubs. Pay on hipster!

Day 2

to the cable car ride
Traditional and iconic cable cars on beautiful street in California
to ride the cable cars is an excellent way to explore the city experience and different neighborhoods in San Francisco. Catch the cable cars from Market Street. They are fun to drive and a lot of time going up and down save these hills.

Visit Lombard Street
The zig zagged Lombard Street full of cars and pink flowers is a must-see on a sunny day in Cali
While the cable cars go, make sure to get at Lombard Street and see one of the windiest roads in the world. Watch the cars and cyclists navigate to gawk the sharp curves and tourists on them.

Head up Coit Tower
Another important landmark of the city is Coit Tower, perched on top of Telegraph Hill. It was founded in 1933 built to beautify the city and has 27 fresco murals by various artists. From the top, you will have a panoramic view of the city (it's $ 7 to upwards) to obtain. Otherwise, you can explore the monument and murals near the ground.

Head to Chinatown

In addition to NYC, this is the most famous Chinatown in the United States (it is also the largest). Chinese immigrants first came to the West Coast and the store in San Francisco. By segregation predominantly Chinese was this area and has remained so, although the separation is over. Chinatown has some of the best places to eat chinese food (dim sum) in the country, teahouses, bars, souvenir stalls and fortune cookie makers. Eat your heart here. I do.

Go an afternoon cruise of San Francisco Bay Take seen on a harbor cruise
the city from the water. They are a few good pictures, learn more about the bay to get to see some animals, and enjoy life on the water. There are many tour operators, but a cheap way to the bay can be seen to take the public ferry for $ 6.25. Same views, cheaper. You can find site prices and routes on the ferry.

Hang in Castro out
The Castro's gay neighborhood of San Francisco and has a number of ethnic and modern restaurants, as bundles of the regional organic food Bay Area is known serve. Moreover, there is an abundance of wild and fun clubs that cater for both gay and straight people. It is a great place to go at night.

explore Haight-Ashbury
The birthplace of American counter-culture, the Haight was Ground Zero in the summer of 1967, also known as The Summer of Love. Hippies used to live here, but Yuppies have moved in there, all the colorful Victorian houses in Haight-Ashbury purchase and replacement head shops with high-end boutiques, chic restaurants and trendy cafes. There is still a great place to visit, and Flower Power Walking Tours runs in the depth and informative tours of the neighborhood.

Day 3

Take a walk
San Francisco has a number of interesting walks you through the history of eclectic neighborhoods or show all delicious meal can teach that the city has to offer. to use two of the best companies are:

Local Taste of City Food Tours
SF City Guide

at the ferry building food
Interior view of the ferry building food court in San Francisco
eating my top place in San Francisco, this place is a foodie dream. Outside the building on weekdays are a lot of food stands and on the weekends there is also a great farmers' market. Inside you will find restaurants and grocers sell specialty foods and butchers, cheese makers, wine bars, and much more.

Visit the many museums of the city
San Francisco has many museums that are worth seeing. Here are my favorites:

The Beat Museum
Cable Car Museum
Exploratorium
De Young Art Museum

explore Golden Gate Park
A beautiful photo of Gloden Gate Park on a sunny day showing the lush greenery and white domed building
This gigantic park features a Japanese garden (skip it), a museum, an arboretum, and tons of hiking and walking trails. Three miles long and stretch about 30 blocks from the sea, it is 20 percent larger than New York's Central Park. Walking from one end to the other takes half a day. If that is too much for you to spend at least a few hours here to explore the park, especially if it is in the city an unusually warm and beautiful day.

relax with a drink
After all this traveling, you might want to explore some of the amazing Brewhouses the city. The Mission and Castro are two of the best places for nightlife, but you will find amazing bars and clubs throughout the city. Here is a short video that features five:

Special thanks to Stuart when I about me! Be sure that his site to consider also how it is filled with some amazing travel tips.

Have more time? Here are other things to do:

  • Japantown explore - Come here for amazing sushi, Japanese food, Korean food and cooking ingredients. Shabu Sen has amazing Ramen
  • Catch a game -. San Francisco locals love their sports teams, especially the Giants, their really good baseball team. If you are in town during a game, be sure to the stadium and cheer to go to the local team. Even if you do not like the sport (whatever sport) are the locals take pleasure in explaining the game and have a beer with you
  • visit wine country . - Close to the city's world-famous Napa and Sonoma wine regions are. If you love wine and have time to leave the city, you obviously need to come here. Some companies run day trips to Napa Valley, because it is closer, but you will be a bit rushed. It is much better to spend at least one night
  • visit Muir Woods -. Muir Woods is the next place in the Bay Area, where you can see giant redwood trees. You do not get the big, big iconic redwoods to meet (the Sequoias are and further away, in Sequoia National Park), but if you look to see something close to the city, which is as good as it gets.
  • explore Berkeley -. over the bay is the interesting city of Berkley, home to music, hippies, students and the very leftist University of California, Berkeley
  • explore Oakland - Oakland an upcoming area in the city and with hipsters, bars and specialty restaurants fill

For food suggestions, Jodi of Legal Nomads has this incredible. List of restaurants. Each site on this list is delicious.

San Francisco has to do a lot of things to see attractions, and restaurants. There is so much to see and do, that three days just is not enough. I think would be a four- or five-day visit you a more complete picture and allow you to spend some time to enjoy the city.
