Coral Bay: My Beach Paradise

Coral Bay: My Beach Paradise -

Coral Bay, Australia outback and sea
We all have our own version of The Beach - that spot in the world where everything is perfect and everything is paradise. I found my version of The Beach back in 07. It is a small town in Western Australia called Coral Bay. It is a one-street town with a bar, supermarket, three restaurants and three hotels. This is a small town. In this city there is not much to do. And that's why I love it.

Coral Bay my paradise. On one side of Coral Bay, it is desolate, dry cattle farm where sheep roam and truckers dodge Kangaroo. On the other side there is blue water, sandy beaches and the Ningaloo Reef with its abundance of marine life.

I love the beach, and everything in this city revolves around a huge white sand beach with turquoise blue water that stretches to infinity and a reef system so close to the land, you can swim there , There are so many turtles, fish and rays, it is too much to handle. When I was there in 07, I woke up every day, swam with turtles on the beach relaxing and working on my tan. In the night shines the setting sun the sky in fiery reds and orange while I cooled with cold beer and good friends.

Life in Coral Bay is perfection, and my time there went far too quickly. I could have stayed for weeks, and I longed back and to go visit, because a quiet beach town is everything I want in life. When Tourism Australia invited me to Australia last month, I declined their offer at first. Finally, I went straight to the beginning of the year to Australia. But when they told me I could go back to Coral Bay, I jumped at the chance.

I wondered what the city would look like after three years. Tourism in Western Australia has grown rapidly in recent years and I wondered whether this sleepy town had spoiled. Would I go back in my A-road paradise several streets to find more hotels and more restaurants?

Beautiful clear waters in Coral Bay
Whatever saw Coral Bay as now, I planned to do more to make this visit than just sitting on the beach. To begin with, it was off to explore the Outback, the Coral Bay surrounds. While I was in the countryside, kangaroos jumping around, flew eagles and other birds of the air, and there were all wildlife. Then we went down to the beach and discovered parrot jumping into the shallows and reef sharks are flying around for food.

After to see the country, it was time to see the water. Snorkeling and swimming around the reef for a second time, I realized this is the best reef in Australia. The Great Barrier Reef gets all the attention, but the Ningaloo Reef is much better. It is bright coral and more wild animals including whale sharks, turtles and dolphins. He was not been spoiled by overdevelopment or overfishing. During the Great Barrier Reef from the air looks great, it is what we, the things to see under water is, and I see far more underwater action here, as I do on the Great Barrier Reef.

In March and April, whale sharks migrate the coast and large manta rays can be found around the reef. It season is gone, I had to settle for Mantas. I took a half-day snorkeling trip around the reef and about an hour outside of Coral Bay, we discovered some great Mantas.

Manta Ray Coral Bay
These creatures were huge! It was amazing to swim with them and watch them effortlessly glide through the water. I never realized how big these creatures were. In my mind, they were as a person, so great. In real life they are as large as three!

After three years away, I left happy again. I was glad the city was still quiet and peaceful to see. Coral Bay is not an easy place to reach. It is in the middle of the west coast, the nearest airport is two hours away, and it is a few days drive from Perth and a solid day's drive from Broome. It is the isolation that probably keeps most tourists. (And makes things quite expensive here.) You usually find Australians who rent campervans or a few Intrepid backpackers who paid this out far.

There is nothing in eastern Australia, which corresponds to the beauty of Coral Bay. Forget Cairns, Noosa, Magnetic Iceland, or Bondi Beach. If you want to experience the beaches that you see in ads for Australia, come to Coral Bay. Part of me wants you to go there, and part of me wants it all to myself. Paradises are all eventually lost, but I want to keep my just a little longer. If you make it there, you will see what I mean. You want to tell others, but you will not really want to tell others. Then again, maybe you are the characters that find your way here has disappeared suddenly and then I can get my version of heaven just a bit longer.
