Belgium is not considered a great tourist destination. In fact, I bet most people could not even locate on a map or in the call to another city next to Brussels. But mention Belgium, and most people will be able to at least say that the beer is good, the chocolate amazing waffles delicious, the fries amazing. Despite its small size, Belgium holds its own in the culinary world, and while the food is not like to be the healthiest in the world, it is certainly the delicious:

Beer

Belgium is probably most famous for its beer. It has been brewing beer since the Middle Ages, and there are about 125 breweries in the country. This 125 breweries produce about 800 standard beers. As a special one-off beers are included, the total number of Belgian beers jumps to about 8700! Belgium is clearly for beer lovers.

One of the most popular beers here is the Trappist beers. These are beers brewed in a Trappist monastery, where the monks involved in the production and politics and the profits must be used from the sale to support the monastery. Only seven monasteries currently meet these requirements, of which six in Belgium and one in the Netherlands.

Another focus is beer Lambic beer, a wheat beer in the southwest of Brussels brewed by spontaneous fermentation. Lambic fermentation is produced by exposure to the wild yeasts and bacteria in the air. This is the kind of beer in Brussels brewed "only brewery remains. These beers may be old, I found it very dry, acidic and sour for up to three years. An acquired taste, perhaps?

Chocolate

Belgium chocolate is supposed to be the best in the world. I am not an expert chocolate, but I know that I almost ate all the free samples at the chocolate Museum. You will receive a chocolate store on every corner in Belgium. The expensive stores like Neuhaus and Godiva are worth the money.

Waffles

Belgian waffles, those big, bright and thick waffles, are famous worldwide. However, the Belgium waffle is really the Brussels waffle. Most waffles in Belgium (in fact, in most of the low countries) are large and flat. It was introduced by Maurice Vermersch in the 60s. Originally called Brussels waffles, Vermersch decided to change the name to watch on the bad geographical skills of the Americans. Belgian waffles were made popular in the United States during the 1964 New York World's Fair.

While had noticed in Belgium, I have the majority of the "Waffle Shops' popularized version closest to the tourist areas, where in the local areas there was more of a mix and more often as a pastry instead of selling breakfast food. I'm used to eat for breakfast but. For me they are best served with a lot of powdered sugar, strawberries and maple syrup. However CNA get hem with banana, ice cream, chocolate, Nutella, what your heart desires.

fries

fries or French fries, is an on the go. Specialty in many parts of Europe In Belgium, there is an art. Everywhere you go you see a frite seller and locals to a cone of fries on foot and some Mayo. (Probably go burning calories!) Everyone claims to know "here insert name of the city" the best frite in. I found the ones in the center of Brussels and Bruges average. A friend told me to take a place called "Maison Antione" in Jordan Place. I thought they were very good and the long lines seemed proof. I mean, at any place, to wait 30 minutes, is for French must be good. And if you eat the fries, make sure you eat them with Mayo. It is delicious.

Belgium may be small, but it packs a mighty punch culinary. There is nothing better than having a cone of fries in the other in one hand and a hearty Belgium beer sit outside on a nice day. None of the food will ever be considered "healthy", but there is always the water be considered in the mouth delicious
