Housing Les Bons Temps on Carnival

Housing Les Bons Temps on Carnival -

Overlooking Bourbon Street during Mardi Gras
How I threw beads on the iron balcony of Bourbon bandstand in the French Quarter, I saw the masses down: alien in elaborate costumes toasted drinks, laughed and danced together as roads bands Jazz performed. Every move, as if a part of a well-rehearsed staging performed before countless times.

"Carnival is certainly wild," I thought.

"Laissez les bons temps rouler!" ( "Let the good times roll!")

Mardi Gras (Fat Tuesday) is the day before Lent time ~ ~ POS = HEADCOMP on which it is to live as your last and to indulge in the temptations of life.

had been visiting since college a dream of mine Mardi Gras New Orleans. See photos in magazines and features on television has me say "I that want to go That seems fun!" But the years have passed, college is a distant memory, and my days stumbling through the streets are long behind me. While the wild party the day brings little appeal to me, has my Great American Road Trip took me during the festival to New Orleans, so I decided to suck it and casting pearls with the best of them! on Sunday to catch

arrival in New Orleans Mardi Gras, my friend Kiersten of The Blonde abroad and I drove the famous Bacchus parade. It is one of the largest parades in the city and is known for its size, spectacular floats and celebrity hosts. The floats are covered in elaborate designs and lights.

But Bacchus is just one of many parades.

Street entertainers playing music at Mardi Gras As of January is New Orleans filled with daily parades, which are an integral part of the Mari Gras season. As Bacchus, they have designed to create a carnival atmosphere on gigantic and expensive cars, costumes, dancers and marching bands. When they meander through the city, the people on the floats throw beads, toys and even coconuts to the masses below.

Local Parade create routes residents line, mini picnic areas with deck chairs, food and tables. Take all the parts of the road, in the early morning arrive to claim their place. Many even with ladders come a better vantage point to get out of the to catch what is thrown from the floats.

take this picnic areas on the streets clutter, as spectators prime properties from other viewers. Usually attempt cities usually so many people allow to see parades as possible and recording as much space discouraged. But here in New Orleans, no one cared, and I found that this small difference was one of the most interesting parts of the festival.

comes closer as Carnival, the city fills with revelers and parties. The parades take from the masses, and to keep music and drinks. In New Orleans, there is no such thing as closing time.

Then on the big day, busting New Orleans in organized chaos.

Beginning early - famous throwing of coconuts - makes its way through the city, and the society of Saint Anne - best known for their elaborate costumes - Gets Bywater for the French Quarter, with revelers along the accession path. As the day continued, the parties to grow in the French Quarter in size, and the streets swell with suppliers and partygoers.

I spent my day on Bourbon Street, New Orleans famous drinking street. This is where tourists go and, although it was still not the "local" places a place I wanted to see.

met my friends and I a few Italian tourists, are connected via drinks, and spent the afternoon bar hopping. The day was fuzzy as flowing drinks, and at about 21:00 I called it a night, went home and passed out ... I mean, went to bed. (There are those who begin their drinking water at 1 am and go until the early morning. I'm not one of those people.)

Although it was an early night for me, Mardi Gras was so much fun and outrageous as I had hope. Everyone was in a happy, friendly and welcoming atmosphere. I loved the camaraderie. The spirit of celebration and fraternity in the city made for the masses (although there are many areas where you can get away from them!).

Although the likely visit my only was (you can see countless other celebrations), carnival - with all the parades and crazy costumes -. a fun, festive, and a little strange case is worth the trouble to make, to see
