Four Reasons This is when I started in 06, the travel, as no great travel blogs were, as we know, economic sites, the year of the Budget Traveler
share, or apps and there were few online sites for obscure destinations. I remember only to find a site, in Europe and in a few forums on backpacking where I could ask questions. Information there was, but it was not so easy to find or as abundant as it is today.
If you could not come to the right travel agency, walker, or hostel owner or did not speak find a tip in your guide book, it was easy to miss important information that you would save money. For example, I did not know about target card city if I go first started. They were not mentioned in guidebooks, and few travelers were talking about it. But get this card saves money: you get access to an entire city attractions and museums for one price (plus, some offer free public transportation!). I ended up individually to pay for the museums in Paris, when I could have gotten only the Paris Museum Pass for about 80% less.
In recent years, apps, blogs, deal sites and share business services explodes. The pace will be available in the new locations, services and information keeps accelerating. This is good news for budget travelers. Travel has never been cheaper or easier. Information is power. The informed more a traveler you are, the more you will be able to know what a deal making and where to find them.
But it may not feel as if there airfare for even the shortest flights seems astronomical. For example, flights to Europe from the United States regularly close to $ 1,000 in the summer. Travelers from South Africa or Australia even pay more than almost anywhere outside their immediate regions to travel. It's easy to look at sites like Expedia or Priceline and think, "I do not think we know that the family can afford holidays this year."
But now you can use the traditional hotel / big bus tour / big air bypass carrier model of travel and your costs sustainably reduce. And the rise of new sites and the exchange of economic, with the substantial growth in blogs in recent years has undertaken that happen. Here are four reasons why 2015 is the year of the budget traveler:
The Rise of the Sharing Economy
The sharing economy, you can cheaper accommodation, quirky tour guide, Mitfahrzentralen find options, and home-cooking with local chefs. You can use the exchange of business sites bypass the traditional travel industry, and access to the local people their own assets and capabilities win to be small tourism companies with cheaper prices. (For example, my Airbnb stay in St. Croix was a night $ 50, while the cheapest place I could find was $ 150.) In addition, knowing the locals where to find deals. You know which supermarket is the cheapest, offering shops, the best sales, and where to find them, the Hole-in-the-wall restaurants and bars with the tastiest food at the lowest prices. to speak directly with them you are on this knowledge to access.
havechanged These websites of travel game and made travel accessible to everyone. The sharing economy has been around for years (CouchSurfing was founded in 03 and Airbnb 08), but was mainstream in the past year and will only continue to grow. Here are some of my favorite sites:
Couchsurfing (accommodation)
Airbnb (accommodation)
Vayable (Tours)
Blablacar (Carpool)
EatWith (Food)
Everything is online!
The growth of websites like mine has allowed a quaint little B & B, a local restaurant, or off-the-beaten-path to discover tourist destination. Instead magazines and guidebooks as the information gatekeeper, you have now Travelers posting content for any place in the world - all available with a simple Google search. A search for "Uzbekistan travel blog" income over five million results. Information on each country, a restaurant and activity is now available online - also in the dark. This gives much better access to planning tips, advice and things to do. Three of my favorite blogs for unconventional goals Uncornered market roads and kingdoms, and Wandering Earl, all with destination guides and stories for more remote places in the world.
Better Flight Search Options
The growth of multinational flight-search engine has made it much easier to find cheap flights and to find hidden deals that were simply impossible before. Not all search engines are the same. They all have their own blind spots, but some of the robust ones include both the small regional carriers and low cost airlines. In addition, there are sites that look for error fares and sales, so you can always be made aware of a deal. My must-use deal sites are:
The flight
Airfarewatchdog
Holiday Pirates
Skyscanner
Momondo
have also made sites like Busbud and Rome2rio finding ground transportation be used much easier to obscure targets through tariffs and route information online that is hard to find.
, the rise of low-cost airlines
years ago, if you wanted to fly between continents, you were usually stuck with traditional, expensive airlines. This is no longer true. Cost airline service now many long-range, making it possible for little money around the world on its feet. Norwegian Airlines allows you to fly for about $ 250 per way to Europe and from Bangkok. WOW air is the introduction of low fares to Iceland and London from the United States. AirAsia X has crazy deals around Asia and Australia for as little as $ 100 per way. Indian and Middle Eastern airlines offer cheap flights throughout the subcontinent and Africa.
Technological advances have created an easier access to information and the connected people from around the world. This is a boon for travelers. Now, intimate local knowledge is no longer out of your reach. It is always easier to plan and research your trip, find travel companions, and get various offers. The traditional gatekeepers are gone, and that has changed the travel game.
The march of technology will only forward, and thereby make travel cheaper as you will be better informed. And the more informed you are, the easier it will be that you know how to save money.
