The Saturday City: Los Angeles
I'll be back for the 2011 L.A. Times Travel Show in Los Angeles. Well, as you know, I'm not a fan of Los Angeles. There's just something about it that rubs me the wrong way. But, I think to come back here because friends who live here, and I am one never completely write off a city without giving it a chance I.
I think Los Angeles one of the cities that you either love or hate, until you live here, and then you just love. Bangkok was like that for me. I hated the city for a long time, but it after moving, I saw that it was more than traffic and pollution. I have a feeling, L.A., how it is. My friends consider me that to tell. "Just living here for a while," they say: ". You will see why LA is so big"
One thing I do love about LA (and this is contrary to everyone who lives here) is the downtown. It can not be much down here, but if I'm here, I feel like in a city bin. There are high-rise buildings, buses, a train, a lot of people, and some shops. It feels like an urban metropolis should. There are a lot of potential here and it is a pity that it does not really downtown building more. You should- it is easy to get around. And maybe it is. Maybe that's what I A. I hate love cities over L., who are looking to get around easily. Even giant cities such as New York, Tokyo and Bangkok have all kind of transportation system that is not dependent on a car. Los Angeles is not so. You can not take away near by foot or subway everywhere. You need a car here. And I'm just a car guy
But Los Angeles has a lot to do, and when you are dealing with a way to get around, here is some of my favorite activities to do here .:
Sunset Boulevard: Perhaps one of the most famous streets in the world, it began as a route between the posh neighborhoods "Stars and the Hollywood studios it runs from downtown to the ocean, by the." Sunset "brought Strip on the way. They are also a lot of high-end shops, restaurants and clubs here. If anything, there are a lot of good music venues are seen here acts
explore Santa Monica .: Hollywood Hollywood may be, but I loved Santa Monica more. it is right on the beach, there are great restaurants, it's a great less pretentious, and there are cool bars. in addition, here are the main draw many large shopping has
Hollywood Boulevard .: Hollywood Boulevard has recently going to be by some urban renewal and redevelopment. You can stroll the Walk of Fame, Grauman Chinese Theater, so you do stars at Madame Tussauds, the Egyptian Theater, and many fine restaurants met. Take some time to explore here. It is worth
Celeb spot Chateau Marmont .: The Chateau Marmont is where all the celebrities come and hang things to do, we read the next day in TMZ. Come sit down here at the bar and have an overpriced drink while watching from the celebrity spot. Even if you do not see the Chateau Marmont is a nice place to look at
Universal Studios Hollywood .: This famous Studio offers tours of the studio and a theme park for a package price. It is the most famous place to take a studio tour, but not is your only option.
Tour the Star Homes: Sure, it's super cheesy, but there are some fun driving around over and see where all the celebrities live. I mean, it's L.A. and part of the attraction of the city is all the famous movie stars, the glamor, the glamor. So be it see a great tourist and go where Brad Pitt called home
Getty Museum: The Getty architecture is so beautiful that it keeps me fascinated. They have a large art exhibition, but what I like best are the stunning views of the city and the architecture of the building. Visiting here the highlight of my time was in LA
Take a walk on the beach: Lounging Los Angeles beaches are a great place for a walk, for people watching, or simply only in the sun. Head down to Santa Monica or Venice Beach for some of the best beaches in the area
Griffith Park . This is the second largest park in the US, this place has a great place for hiking, picnics or hanging around with friends. The trails to Mulholland Drive lead up, and a great view of the city. Griffith Park has many activities in it including L.A. Zoo, Autry Western Museum, pony rides, a golf course, driving range, and the (Space) Observatory.
L.A. has to do no shortage of things. There are so many people from so many different places around the world that you also get a wide range. I just wish I did not have to get stuck in traffic, to do them all. Everything is laid out here! But the more I visit, the more attractive L.A. is. It is still only a place to visit though. For me, the cities that I love the most, are the cities that I would live. L.A. is still not quite city not yet, but it is getting closer.
