During observations in England

During observations in England -

The Parliament Building and Big Ben in London, England Note : This post has been one of the first articles I ever wrote and wrote many, many years in front. My feelings in the country have changed, and I was to judge too quickly.

A month spent traveling England, and I certainly learned a lot about the country.

A month in each country, you learn something. Cultures open only really important to you when you spend a long time in one. There is only so much to notice a few days in. For more information about any place learning part of the reason why I slowly traveling

A month in England has taught me that.

the Englishman sit in their assigned seats. When a person a seat is allocated right next to you, they will sit there, even if the rest of the car is empty.

Every night is a night drinking . It is no surprise that the British drink, but what surprised me was the sheer volume they do it in. No matter what day of the week it is, or if it the next day of work, they are drinking. I saw a few scenes on a Tuesday only that happen in America on a weekend. The English love the drinks again to set every night of the week.

is two hours away too far. "Where are you going on?" She asked I would get. "Ohh, that's very far," was the usual response. In a country that can fit a couple of times about the British sense of distance in Texas, a little warped. For me it is just a short drive. But not for the British. I know distance is relative, but what really shocked me was that most non-English to their own country to travel, because "it's too far."

The British railway system is too expensive . You can get tickets if you book well in advance. Otherwise, you'll pay 50 pounds in a train two hours to go. As airlines who on the day you want to go closer, the higher the price. It is ridiculous to be so expensive for a public rail system. I think it is totally ridiculous that it costs more to take me a three-hour bus ride, as she did to Amsterdam to fly. Fortunately, I found some cheap way across England to get and could avoid this system. No wonder so few people like to take the train.

Everyone loves to hate London. Nobody likes London, not even Londoners. Londoners are cold, the city is far too expensive, it is hectic is the list of complaints goes on. But everyone always ends up there to move for a while. The English have a total love / hate relationship with the city. Despite all the disadvantages, they stay there. As everyone (including Londoners) told me ", London:... Shit Wait until you get out of town England is much better because"

Nobody talks in London . Speaking of London, get on the tube. It is so quiet. People do not talk to each other. You just sit and try to avoid eye contact. No one says anything. Not even any excuses for someone encounter. It's scary and a bit anti-social.

The English wear wetsuits in the water. Because cold water surrounds England, the English wet suits walk while wearing. Whether it is a river, lake or the sea, 75% of the Englishman had a wet suit on. When I saw that, I thought to myself, "wimps." In New England, our water is as cold, but unlike the English, we can take it. Well, maybe not me, but all the others. Babies.

treat parks like beaches. There is nothing like a good day at the beach. But if you are English, your Park is your beach. Everyone comes in beach clothes every day to capture the four minutes of sun. They bring footballs, Frisbees and dogs. They Lounge as the Greek Islands. Because remember, one hour drive to the beach is just too far.

The TV shows are terrible. I thought shows in America were poor, but the British take it to new lows with Hollyoaks, Eastenders, and especially a lot less censored version of Big Brother.

England has many Poles. , the entire service industry of England is dominated by Polish immigrants. I was not served by an English person when it was in small cities like Cornwall. Poland come for wages to England, and as the Englishman to wait no desire, tables, Poland dominated the service and other low-wage industries. I saw many similarities between the immigration of Poles in England and Hispanics in the United States. In fact, the debate between many of my English friends, whether this reflects good or bad, the immigration debate that we have in America. Some problems transcend boundaries.

Overall, the landscape was my favorite. London exciting, but overrated. There is a lot to do, but the city really only disclosed even those with deep pockets. The landscape is much more accessible. Prices are reasonable, the people friendly, and the area a lot nicer. I can not decide if I the Lake District or Cornwall liked more, but both are leagues better than London ever.

And if not I like? A place that comes to mind. The city of Birmingham

But England was definitely an interesting place and I look forward to seeing you again
