Visiting Taipei 101
I'm afraid of heights. It is not to be so much high that scares me, it's more the fear of falling. Walk with me on a mountain and watch me from each edge to stay far away. Once I went with a friend and made them wander away from the edge, because it freaked me too much. Driving on winding mountain roads freaks me out also. I can not sit on the street side of the car. I go a few years only about my fear of roller coasters. Any signs of turbulence in an airplane and my white knuckles grip the seat. Basically I do not like to be high. So it was with a little fear and trepidation that I went to go visit the world's tallest building, Taipei 101
from the city rises, Taipei 101 is an unforgettable sight. I visited the building on my last day in Taiwan life, and it was majestic. I've always just seen the building, as I move through the city, and I've been close to it, as there are a number of clubs in the neighborhood, but I'd never really seen it away or even seen in daylight , I was very excited. And there it was. I was even taken more surprised when I saw the Sydney Opera House.
Taipei 101, the most impressive modern structure that I have ever seen. It rises up and dominates the surrounding area. 101 is a beautiful building like a bamboo reed built. Construction began in 1997 and was completed in 04. It is the tallest building in the world (to be in Dubai accepts) and, well, I can not say that's enough, very impressive. There is a very high-end building and its offices and homes are for people with money. There is also the Taipei 101 mall, where you can find stores like Dolce and Gabana, Prada, Armani, Gucci and many high-end restaurants. On my last night I have to eat at the sushi restaurant, and even though it cost me a fortune, it was the best meal I had in Taiwan.
visitors can until the 88th to 91st floors head and take a look out at the city and the mountains. As I am a sadist, I bought my ticket, waiting in line, and headed up the elevator. The elevator ride is actually really fun. There is a screen that shows how fast you are and where you are in the building. It takes about 30 seconds to go from bottom to top. I felt my ears a little pop.
to 89th floor up, I have to see Taipei and the environment in all its glory. It took about 10 minutes before I even got up the glass on, but if I did, I saw how beautiful Taipei from above. The Town Type reminded me of the game Sim City. All buildings, apartments and commercial areas are so perfect that they applied from above artificially almost seem.
to and learning about the history of the area after a walk I went up on the 91st floor, where you can actually go outside. There are huge bars that people do not fall or jump, and the wind actually creates a loud pitch as it moves through the bars. The view is not great, because the iron bars of the nature of your vision block, but you can have a good view of the tower received that makes 101 the tallest building in the world. It did about 10 minutes to get to the rim and for a photo, I crawled into the center back right.
What I liked to see was really the earthquake dampers of the building. Down on the 88th floor, the big metal ball in the middle of the building is designed to help each rule by strong winds or earthquakes, to absorb. Leading the ball upwards, this is very cool floor that is sensitive to touch. If you go over it, disappearing clouds Taipei show. I managed to get an OK video, but the groups that got held me walk forever in my shot. Check it out:
Overall, Taipei 101 was breathtaking. It is amazing to see. It is wonderful. And it is to think really impressive that people that made. If you look at the technology and new thinking that had to go into it, it makes your jaw drop. It is by far one of the most impressive things I've ever seen, and at night when everything is lit up, it is still large. I'm just sorry that I waited 3 months of close watch
