Take FLYTE: How you can help students better training and Get More travel
Travel is a powerful agent for change. It expands our horizons and helps us to find our target.
Think, if you traveled at the first time abroad. Remember, these feelings of freedom, opportunity and excitement that you had? Remember, what have you hooked and made you say, "I need more to do this"?
Think about how the trip was a positive impact on your life and how you connected to the people and communities that you never thought you'd get to know
Unfortunately not travel everyone is lucky enough to -. especially young students. Not everyone has parents to take them on adventures around the world, or send them to study abroad. Most schools do not have the resources to keep their art and gymnastics classes, let alone send students traveling outside their community.
For children can travel even more life-changing than for adults, because it exposes them different ideas, cultures and people in a critical developmental period in their lives.
Have not you ever seen young people while traveling and worrying caught about how happy they are? I know I have, several times. How often do you see families on the road and think about how much the child is to get out of this trip? How often do you wish could help you to get more children to stay?
During my travels I have met some of the children, and I am amazed at how grounded, positive, culturally sensitive and opening they handled are. It makes me wonder what would the world be like if more children traveled.
often turn my thoughts to all the children who are not of this opportunity. You do not have the opportunity to visit foreign countries, to discover who they are in a global context, and bring what they learn about life at school.
I have dedicated the last eight years of my life to establish a new basis for the mission of the people travel more and more today.
to promote this mission, I am announcing that send students overseas help. It is The basis for learning and youth travel education or FLYTE .
FLYTE mission to provide the resources and funding universities in underserved US communities to send children overseas to help. Initially our focus is on students in rural or economically disadvantaged communities. (One day, with sufficient funds, I would like to provide financial support to study for college students abroad ... but one step at a time.)
We do this, students are global citizens to help , bring life to the subjects they learn in school and bring them new ideas and cultures.
There are so many negative stereotypes in the world that are perpetuated by a lack of exposure to different cultures and too much exposure to horrific news stories. Holiday breaks these negative stereotypes and eases. Remember when "dangerous" or "scary" place visited one that was completely different from what you have imagined it? Travel compels us to evaluate clichés new, and creates a shift in our typical way of thinking.
That's why I want to do this. So I want to create an organization that promotes education through travel. The two go hand in hand. The more I traveled, the more I learned about the world, me, we are all even and as interconnected.
Growing up, my family did not travel much. We went my grandmother in Florida to see, but never went anywhere that requires a passport. My suburban high school never took excursions overseas. As a result, I've learned not about the power of travel until I was twenty-three, had a job, and planned my first trip to Costa Rica. The only two-week vacation opened my eyes to the endless possibilities, has to offer this world.
Last fall, a woman wrote to me to say that they are the small-town Southern girl I. Discussed politics with ten years ago on a site called Xanga She wrote that her studies after graduation she went on a journey and discovers that the world much more complex and diverse than they had noticed. It completely changed their view of the world, and now she wants her career to center volunteer work. The global context they achieved while made it easy to choose the courses in their lives that made a difference in the communities that need it.
I often think about the children of an international school in Rome, I met in Greece, were so mature and intelligent that they were operas recommend me. I could not believe it when they told me they were only 16 it! Travelling is more well-rounded students!
FLYTE, our new non-profit is to promote study trips to the United States, by looking them logistical support, funding and advice for teachers to provide cultural context, what they are teaching overseas through educational travel. Most schools do not have to run the money or expertise and organize these trips. Many students and their families do not have the resources not. This is the gap FLYTE will fill.
will provideFLYTE logistical support, looking to provide financing and advice for teachers cultural context, what they teach. We are looking for the history teacher to help the his students will show the D-Day beaches of France, the Spanish teacher who wants to immerse their students in the Spanish culture or biology teacher who wants to learn their students about sustainability in the jungle of Costa Rica.
If you've ever wondered how you can help others travel more, this is your chance. You can help a new generation of travelers create.
is Our goal $ increase 250,000 in the next few weeks to start the foundation and five students traveling coordinate in our first year (and more funding we get that run more trips we can).
Today I ask you to help us change the lives of students across the country. We already know the power to explore the world and how important it is to make people's lives. We have seen it in our own lives.
so let this power with which to share the trip so on their own do not have the means to take over. Let us put them on a path of learning and cultural exploration. If you have ever thought about how people do not travel enough and need as children to be exposed to more ideas, this is a way for you to make a difference. This is a way for you to provide educated, well-traveled people, especially here in the US (where international travel is not necessarily a priority or often seen as a possibility).

This is an exciting new venture and a to give good opportunity for the travel community back and make a positive impact on the world. I know that's a big thing to ask, and I'll be honest - I've never a charity run before (luckily, my Executive Director has), but I ask myself to rely on these investments. I already have the Board of Directors, which comprises a an attorney, school administrators, and a travel PR professional. Besides, I have already directed two companies, Context Travel and Walks.org who have committed to provide tours for students! (Special thanks to believe in this project to them from the start!) Travel shows children the great opportunities and possibilities in the world. It puts the people, places and ideas that they can not experience at home. With your help we can travel and education across the country have, help a positive impact on the lives of children, promote, and pass the importance of a global perspective on the next generation!
