My Favorite Hostel in the world
I often write about my favorite hostels in regions around the world, but I have never written about my favorite hostels in the world. With more than 55 countries and five years backpacking under the belt I've stayed in hundreds hostels. Some were so bad that I have to block out my memories. But out of the hundreds, I have some clear favorites, I'll never forget places and go my made to stay in.
Rocking Js (Puerto Viejo, Costa Rica)
Rocking Js is a kind institution in Central America. It was there for ages, there is a beautiful white sand beach in front of him they serve good food and have nightly BBQs, and there are lots of partying. They also have a large selection of cheap accommodation (from hammocks to private rooms). There is a huge common room area, and they offer a lot of travel services. It is a little out of town, but it is by far one of the coolest places I've ever been, and I met here many great people.
Franceso of (Ios, Greece)
Francesco is a (to be the other Out Beach Resort Far) to stay away from two main places on Ios. Personally, I like Francesco's better because it is closer to the city (not late at night goes home) and the staff will all interact together at night. There is a lot of social place as Far Out. It is impossible not to take people here. There is also a pool. Francesco is also next to the most beautiful Milkshake divorce court on the entire planet. The rooms are very nice and the beds were comfortable, but what really makes this place so wonderful is its central location and the fact that you can make lots of new friends every night.
Kabul (Barcelona, Spain)
Arguably one of the best hostels in the world, Kabul's just an all-out fun place, but only when looking to spend your nights partying. They do not come to sleep to Kabul. It is known for its atmosphere and parties that it is always fully booked, and in summer it is fully booked months in advance. Each socialized in the halls and dormitories, get other people to know, to play card games, drinking and listening to music, or heads down to dirt cheap to enjoy the huge common room beer and pool. Kabul also offer a small free dinner every night. I was not in a long time (I have more party like to sleep these days), but if you are young and drink, or just to drink, or are at heart only young (whatever!) Stay here ,
Nomads (Queenstown, New Zealand)
This was a new hostel, as I was there in 09, and I have to stay there as a guest nomads. I was traveling with a group of people who've been there, and this place really impressed me. The hostel has a large kitchen (Restaurant sized), first class showers (with great water pressure) and toilets, and a large living room, and most rooms have a balcony. The pads are thick - the manager told me they change every few months to keep them fluffy. How about that for service? Moreover, unlike most hostels in New Zealand, this does not have a bar, which means that you can drink in the hostel. This meant that a lot of people to stay in the night socializing instead of money at the bars to spend. In addition, every night the hostel hosts (seen including a Crawl $ 10) activities and has a free dinner and quiz night on Sunday.
The Flying Pig (Amsterdam, Netherlands)
What I love about this place is the people. The facilities are standard (except the pillows that are like sleeping on air), and the prices are on the expensive side, but I love the atmosphere here. While this hostel is popular with travelers to relax at night and look for smoke weed, the bar is very busy with those who do not. It is not just about smoke here. The staff (a mix of locals and travelers) what this place apart from the rest is. You hang out with guests, experts in the city, and will always help you. You want to have fun as much as you. In Amsterdam, I never stay anywhere else.
Base St Kilda (Melbourne, Australia)
I have said in the past that base such as McDonalds of hostels. You'll leave full, but you're not really satisfied. But McDonald 's (base) outdid themselves with their Melbourne hostel. It is my hostel in Australia. The bar is open every evening alive, and there are BBQs and events during the week. Moreover, the rooms and bathrooms are clean and well maintained. Most people stay here for the atmosphere and location. Within moments of my arrival in the dorm, I met a group of friends to spend time with. I was there during my first trip to Australia and this year went back to see if it was as good yet as I had remembered. It was.
Hostel Mostel (Bulgaria)
The hostel has locations in three cities in Bulgaria (Sofia, Plovdiv and Veliko Tarnovo), and they all follow the same principles: comfortable beds, free breakfast, free dinner, beer, shots fee, a pool table and free, fast Wi-Fi. And you know, it's hard not to like a place that gives you a delicious breakfast, free beer, and every night pasta. The beds are super comfortable, but the best part to stay here is the friendly, convivial atmosphere. I loved especially their location in Veliko Tarnovo, as it had a wonderful view of the old castle and the surrounding mountains. This hostel was my favorite during my last six-month tour of Europe.
Suk 11 Guest House (Bangkok, Thailand)
right in the center of Bangkok, this guest house is far away from the backpacker scene of Khao San Road and near the action downtown (and also next to my favorite bar in the world, Cheap Charlie). Suk 11 is decorated in teak wood and there are plants and flowers all over the place. It's like an oasis of calm in a city of madness. In the front is a traditional Thai restaurant, which is filled every night with locals. Breakfast sucks Art, and although some of the staff can sometimes be a bit sour, the location and the device more than make up.
Mondu Taitu (Bocas Del Toro, Panama)
This funky hostel belongs in a large tropical setting of three American surfers who have the right idea about the life have: it is on the beach to spend. This hostel offers a themed party every night served a pancake breakfast and is located next to the best sandwich shake shop in the world, Bocas blended. Most of the dorms are in the house is located next to the main "hostel" which is great because you instead that they awakened a restful night by the loud music. This is one of those places you go for a few days to relax and end up spending 2 weeks.
Tallinn Backpackers (Tallinn, Estonia)
Tallinn had many good hostels. I had to change a lot, and from the four, I used to, I enjoyed this place the most. It was the social of hostels that I have been, and it hosts a nightly pub crawl, which usually starts with something to sing along. (Yes, of course, sing Oasis "Wonderwall".) The beds are soft here, and I have probably the best sleep here, that I had had in a while. And it's not noisy at night because everyone is and they go the common room at midnight, so people can sleep. Disadvantage? It is sometimes filled with large groups of drunken Brits and Aussies, and I'd probably this weekend to avoid for this reason.
Aboriginal (Budapest, Hungary)
had at breakfast (waffles) and the free Goulash for dinner this place myself. Centrally located in Budapest, Aboriginal Fi offers, free laundry and TV, and nights out organized so that everyone can meet. The place is small, so that everyone gets to know each other very well. It creates a very cozy and comfortable atmosphere. You end up feeling like you are traveling with friends, not strangers. It is not a party factory, churn-and-burn meant drunk travelers, like other hostels (Carpe Noctum) in Budapest are
Finalist :. Green Turtle (Seattle, Washington), Calypso (Cairns, Australia), # 9 Guesthouse (Phnom Penh, Cambodia)
So there you have it. These are my favorite hostels in the world and that I would stay highly recommended. many, many other great hostels in the world, but for me course there are many, these are the cream of the crop.
