Saturday Location: Broome
Broome located in the north of Western Australia. It is a small, sleepy little seaside town with not much to do except lounge around in the sun. The heat and humidity can get unbearable, and the term "Broometime" is often used to describe the city sluggish.
The city was founded by the territory of the governor in the 1880s as a pearling town and the name. The pearling industry thrived here on the backs of exploited Japanese workers, and the 00 graves in the Japanese cemetery are proof. Today is the pearl industry has proceeded to pearl farming. If you are so inclined, you can take a tour of a few of the pearl farms, which are distributed around the city.
Today is the mining boom in the region has created an influx of people into the city. However, the city survived mainly on tourism dollars, and relies heavily on the dry season surge. During the dry season, the population of 14,000 swells to 30,000.
The city is filled with foreign tourists and Aussies who have come to relax in the amazing weather. The small town center with shops and restaurants that satisfy for every tourist needs. There are a few good restaurants in the area and an outdoor cinema. But overall I thought aligned the center a little too sure where my money was and lacked flavor.
The highlight of the town's Cable Beach. The beach is named after the submarine cable of Singapore, made landfall there. Cable Beach 14 miles from white sand quality. Tide over 9 meters tall wipe clean the sand every day, and it's so big that you can never find it crowded. There are some old dinosaur tracks at one end of the beach, and the waves are pretty good for surfing
Another reason to stay the whole day -. The beach faces west, so the sunsets are outstanding. Sitting beside the beach watching the sun dance down is a good way to end the day. Many companies offer sunset camel rides along the beach. I think wine is also included.
During the rainy season, but note that you need to look for jellyfish. They are deadly! Hold for posted warnings an eye.
In addition to cable beach, a major tourist attraction in Broome the stairs to the moon. During the dry season (and only the dry months), the rising full moon creates an optical illusion of a staircase as reflects light the mudflats in Roebuck Bay. It can be seen a pretty cool sight and people from all over flock to Broome for this dry season event. There are even set up a special market for them.
Broome is also filled near Kimberly, a region with the National Park, a desert, canyons and waterfalls. It is typical of the Australian outback.
The region is known for its gorges known that ends are best considered after the rainy season. This is when the roads are passable again and the streams and waterfalls are still swollen from the rain. The area is only "open" in the dry season, as the roads and the area become impassable during the rainy season. You can helicopter tours of the area during the rainy season to take, but they are grossly expensive.
Total Broome is a sleepy little town, which is aligned much for tourism. In the dry season the city can be a little too crowded as everyone gets to enjoy the cool weather, beaches, and escape the cold of the southern part of Australia. Accommodation and tours have to be booked well in advance, and restaurants are always full. It is much better in the rainy season.
But what is said, Broome location makes it a great place for a relaxing beach holiday and if you are in the dry season there, a trip to the Kimberly.
