Learn to go with the flow

Learn to go with the flow -

a river panama Sometimes with absolutely no plans to travel, it's good and sometimes it's good to have a rough itinerary. No matter what your choice, it is important that you remain flexible. When I started in 06 backpacking, I remember to jump on a whim to Amsterdam on a train. After I left for Spain there, I missed the city so much, I flew spontaneously and lived there for 2 months back to Amsterdam. Once I was in Thailand and not go on with my itinerary, I decided to stay for only one month in Ko Lipe.

However, recently I have become stiffer as I travel. I like to work, and if I could (sometimes) complain that having a website means that I can not go lattice, the truth is the thing is that I'm a workaholic. I love the improvement of this site. I have this work ethic from my parents, and I have never got rid of them.

This site often does not give me the flexibility crazy changes in my plans to make, as I used to be able to do. However, one of my New Year's resolutions to work less and play more. I want to better organize how I can do so I work less work. Last year, I found myself more work than traveling and I did not like. I love what I do, but I left the car world, so I was able to spend less time on work, not more. This year I wanted things to be different. I wanted to work less, and enjoy myself much more.

While in Panama City, I met a Finnish girl who just "go with the flow." It makes no plans carry no leader, computer, camera, or phone. They are all things that affect them adversely, she said. Because of her, I was in Panama City an extra week and skipped where I originally wanted. I was traveling at the last minute with her to the small town of Portobelo her and my friend JD away to Colombia to see. I even wanted to come in Colombia, but I decided that the two weeks that I have left in my journey is not enough time to see, Colombia would be.

nomadic matt looking out in tortugeuro awakening and towards Portobelo at the last minute was by far the best thing I've done since I came in Central America. Portobelo to talk a city with no Internet, no good beach, or no recreational activities ended, my favorite place in Panama on. The locals were friendly and chatty, spend their nights on the town square hanging. This was the only place in Panama where I really enjoyed the local food (it had spices and flavor !!!). Since this was the site of an old Spanish fortress, there were good crumbling ruins lost.

As travelers importance that we are ready, our plans at a moment notice be changed. My friend JD joined the Finnish girl on the boat to Colombia. He wanted to Costa Rica, but he opted for a boat trip sounded better, the morning we drive to Portobelo went, and he changed his plans then and there. It also embodies a go with the flow attitude. And because I went with the flow I got to see this great city and spend more time with people and not the computer.

I recently read the book "Blink" by Malcolm Gladwell. In it he says that while we analyze over things, so that the fraction of a second decision is good, give the best results. Sometimes we know exactly what feels right. I agree with him. Looking back at my life, I realize that it is the instinctive decisions that have always worked out best for me.

I think it's important to never second guess when traveling. This place, you wanted it to go in the future, but the people you go with, and the experiences that you are about, will be not to have. My Finnish friend was right. Only swim with the current. If you want to spend with people more time to go with them. Get in your itinerary not be caught. You need not go anywhere you are not going to feel like going.

The digital nomad, I think it is easy to be caught for me in the job. The Internet is increasingly take as much time as you enter it. I'm behind my computer and fixed in my itinerary, and I feel that I have to go here or do I have to do that. I forgot how traveling is always best when it is not planned.

portobelo in panama

And so I'm grateful for this experience in Portobelo, because it made me realize that my intuition was right. I need to go with the flow more. I have to forget about the computer, and open to change and spontaneity ... .because, after all, these were the reasons why I. The cabin mainly left me on
