Songkran: Thai New Year

Songkran: Thai New Year -

Songkran is a 3-day water fight that celebrates the Thai New Year. It occurs between April 13 to 15 (which happens to be the hottest month of the year). Across the country, from big cities to small villages, Thais celebrate the New Year by. Bucket of cold water on each other dumping The holiday is to wash the old year away and bring in the New Year. It's fantastic small children, the elderly, to see and to engage the police. It is a very lively holiday and everyone is just to have a good time. The only way to truly understand the madness that Songkran is, it can be seen, so here my video is:

(Of all my videos, I encourage you to watch this you really need to see. great festival !!)

Tips for Songkran

  • Chiang Mai and Bangkok have the biggest celebrations, but you are small celebrations throughout the country.
  • In Bangkok, Khao San Road and Silom find support the two largest parties.
  • plan wet all the time to obtain. Even if you have a backpack or bag, people will still sprinkle with water. There is no escape when you are inside.
  • The only way to avoid wet is to have a camera or cigarette. If people who look with, they will not be sprayed with water.
  • just have fun. There is no malice involved here, so if you get wet and you did not want to just go with it. It's the holidays and you just take it into account. They even pour water on people ride motorcycles.
  • One of the most fun things to do, get in a tuk tuk or truck and drive around the city people sprayed with water. You get to take in some of the finest water fights and a lot of people. I recommend this for at least one day.
