The Saturday City: Cairns

The Saturday City: Cairns -

Cairns Australia Cairns is Australia's gateway to the northern Queensland. From here you can the Great Barrier Reef, the Daintree Rainforest, visit the Atherton Tablelands, Cape Tribulation and more. Cairns is a fairly typical tropical city in this life here focuses on relaxing to stay cool, move slowly, and enjoy nature. Cairns is small, comprising a population of about 0,000 with a city center, a few blocks of shops, restaurants and bars.

Although it to be

overly touristy, I liked Cairns. It is easy to get around, the atmosphere is very relaxed, there is good food, and most importantly, there is a lot to do. (Say: Giant Pool) I could spend a few weeks in Cairns, relaxing by the lagoon, eat in the restaurants, enjoy the weather, and to see its use as base all locations in the region. The five days I spent, simply was not enough. Some of the activities that you do around Cairns:

to the Great Barrier Reef Diving - The only natural thing able to see from space, the Great Barrier Reef one of the best place to dive in the world. Cairns is the largest base for diving trips jumps to the reef. Trips cost $ 170 and $ 250 AUD for the day between. I loved my dive trip. I was blown away how great the diving was and the abundant wildlife and coral. I always wanted to see the reef, and it did not disappoint

Visit the Daintree Rainforest -. The rain forest north of Cairns is the oldest rainforest on the planet dinosaur time out. There are a number of day trips here but the best way to optimize your time, the area is to visit on the way north to Cape Tribulation. The area is great and makes for a great day of swimming and hiking. My only regret is that I only had one day, as it would have been nice to spend a few days, all the walks.

a trip to the north take - Daintree River crossing and on to Cape Tribulation, Cooktown and Cape York. These towns are great jumping point for dive trips to the reef, jungle hikes, and overall, lounging. There's nothing to do except relax, upwards, enjoy nature, read a field, and avoid jellyfish.

See many waterfalls - south of Cairns, the Atherton Tablelands have an abundance of waterfalls. Day trips are long, and you will leave early and return late, but you are a ton of great waterfalls, especially the famous Millaa Millaa Falls. If you go, go with Uncle Brian tours. They are an incredibly popular tour and, although the day is long, the tour is great and the drivers really engaging. I have never seen such a wild day tour in my life. My friend and I went very happy

Have Extreme Sports -. If you are too banal while hiking, diving and swimming, for you, there's always AJ Hackett Bungy jump or a parachute jump. AJ Hackett also has a swing that you 100 feet high, and then starts to take. It is not not spin as the pirate ships at carnivals except you around. AJ himself was there when I went to visit. As you know, I hate heights. My feet were firmly planted on the ground, but he did get me to do the sweep. There is a video of him shouting at me and yell profanities.

Within Cairns, you will find not much action. The lagoon is quite crowded, especially on weekends. There are the botanical gardens, although they are a little too far away from the center. The restaurants near the coast are very good and also expensive. At night, the city has a lively bar scene thanks to all backpackers who come to the city.

I wish I can stay longer in Cairns. I enjoyed the atmosphere of the city, the number of things you could do while there, the good night life, and the good restaurants. Cairns is definitely one of my favorite Australian cities.
