Unusual site of the month: The Swedish Ice Hotel
The Swedish Ice Hotel is located in Jukkasjarvi, Sweden. It has 80 rooms and is an annual ice from the nearby Torne River built. Construction in October each year with 10,000 tons of ice and 30,000 tons of snow. The 30,000-square-foot hotel is located 0 km north of the Arctic Circle and has an Absolut Vodka ice bar, an ice-cinema, an ice chapel, ice family room and ice suites. The whole structure uses 4,000 tons of ice.
The hotel began in 190 when French artists Jannot Derid held an exhibition in a cylinder-shaped igloo in the area. One night there were no free rooms in the city, so some visitors were sleeping bags on top of reindeer skins in sleep, the world's first initial "ice hotel."
The Ice Hotel gives you a different way to vacation. It is an interesting place to stay for those who love the snow. Rooms start around $ 300 per night, and the hotel is from December to April. Temperatures range from -8 C C (17.6 F to 23 F) to -5. That's pretty cold, but considering temperatures get -37 C (-34.6 F), it is not so bad. Guests sleep on reindeer skins and sleeping bags, to make for a comfortable and restful sleep.
As the hotel melts and each year must be recreated, no two years have the same design. to make every year new and to make the whole place new, so returning visitors to return a new location. Theme last year was "the Milky Way."
The popularity of this hotel inspired imitators in other Arctic regions such as Norway and Canada. For more information about the original, on its website at the Ice Hotel. If you are considering going, make sure you book in advance, as the hotel more popular it is often fully booked
